John Clyde Wood, age 80, of Roanoke County, died Sunday in a local hospital. He was retired from Fulton Motor Company, and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he was a member of the Hunt Bible Class. He was a member of the Webber High Twelve Masonic Lodge No. 282 A.F. & A.M., the Scottish Rite, and the Kazim Fire Brigade. He was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie DeLong Wood. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Richard Metz, Roanoke County. Funeral services will be held at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel 12:00 noon Tuesday with Dr. C. Steven Teague and the Rev. H. Kelly Dampeer officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Monday at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or Calvary Baptist Church.
