Charles Taulbee Counts, age 83, of Roanoke, passed away in Community Hospital on February 17 at 10:00 a.m. He is survived by his wife, Johnsie Anna Counts; two daughters and a son-in-law, Catherine Scott Bakkela, Arlington, Va.; Betty Jane Osterhus and John Leonard Osterhus, Westfield, N.J.; granddaughter, Laurel Anne Osterhus; brother, Dr. Russell L. Counts, Ft. Pierce, Fla.; several aunts and uncles. Mr. Counts was a graduate of Southeastern University in Washington, D.C. and also attended several other colleges. He was a special agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (F.B.I.) for 35 years under Director J. Edgar Hoover. He was a member of the Blue Ridge Chapter of Former Special Agents of the F.B.I. He was also a past member of the Vinton Lions Club. Services will be from Oakey's North Chapel at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Darryl G. Crimm will officiate. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at Oakey's North Chapel from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday.
