PARENTS OF CHILDREN IN READING PROGRAMS INVITED TO FILM SHOWINGS

Parents of children in federal Chapter I and Head Start programs in the Montgomery County Public Schools are invited to attend the screening of a film, "Reading Aloud: Making Books into Friends, Not Enemies."

The film features Jim Trelease, the author of "The Read Aloud Handbook," of which more than 1 million copies are in print.

The film, which runs an hour and 20 minutes, will be shown Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Margaret Beeks Elementary School in Blacksburg, Thursday at 10 a.m. at Shawsville Elementary School and Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Christiansburg Primary School. Door prizes have been donated by local merchants for those who attend. There is no admission charge for the "Reading Aloud" showings.
