Mrs. Emily Byrd Ferguson, age 72, of Vinton, died Thursday at a local hospital. She was the widow of Bowman D. Ferguson and a member of the Vinton Baptist Church. She and her late husband owned and operated the former Ferguson Cleaners in Vinton for over 20 years. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Gayle and Steve Dean, Richmond; granddaughter and her husband, Katheryn F. and Richard G. Kelley, Roanoke; grandson and his wife, Lt. Thomas S. Fox, III and Catherine; great-grandson, Thomas S. Fox, IV; great granddaughter, Caitlin Ray Fox, all of Topsham, Maine; sisters, Desmond B. Miller, Roanoke; Lorraine O'Brien, Vinton; brothers, Harry W. Byrd, and Richard E. Byrd, both of Roanoke. Funeral services will be conducted from the Vinton Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 23, 1991 with the Rev. Dr. William L. Ross officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Burial Park.
