CRACK DEALER GETS 40 YEARS IN PRISON

A Bedford County Circuit Court judge Friday imposed the 40-year prison sentence a jury had recommended for a crack cocaine dealer.

In December, a jury gave Clifford Richards the maximum punishment possible for one felony count of distributing cocaine: 40 years and a $100,000 fine.

Richards, a 25-year-old native of New Jersey, was one of 22 people arrested last year in an undercover operation that focused on drug traffic in Rain Tree Village, a Bedford apartment complex.

Richards was one of the three suspects who asked for jury trials.
