CLEMSON CAPTURES ACC TRACK TITLE

Clemson held off North Carolina State to win its second straight Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Indoor Track and Field Championship on Saturday.

The Tigers amassed 111 points to edge the Wolfpack's 107.2 total. North Carolina (89.6) was third, followed by Virginia (70.2), Georgia Tech (68), Wake Forest (43) and Maryland (7).

Virginia's Ben Kurgat was named the meet's Most Valuable Player after winning the 800 meters in an ACC-record time of 1:49.25. The time also qualified Kurgat for the NCAA Championship. Kurat also finished second in the mile run.

North Carolina captured the its fourth straight ACC women's title behind MVP Penny Blackwell, who won the long jump, triple jump and finished second in the 400 meters.

North Carolina finished with 150 points to 120 for runner-up Clemson. - Wire report
