CITY HIRES AUDITOR

Robert H. Bird has been named municipal auditor for Roanoke, succeeding William Brogan, who retired last fall after 16 years in the job.

City Council appointed Bird, an assistant auditor, to the position Monday night. The auditor is one of six top administrators who are hired directly by council.

The municipal auditor has the authority to make spot checks and unannounced audits of all city financial operations.
