ROBBED MAN LEFT IN CRAIG WITHOUT SHOES

A man who was found walking on a Craig County mountain with no shoes or coat early today told police that he was robbed by two men in Roanoke and later dropped off on Potts Mountain.

Eric Emanual Brown, 28, of the 1600 block of Hanover Avenue, was found by a highway worker about 5:25 a.m. today, Roanoke police said.

Brown told police that he was picked up in Roanoke by two men who drove him to Craig County, where he was beaten and robbed.

He was taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The offense is being investigated by city police and the Craig County Sheriff's Department.

In other crimes reported by police:

A 20-year-old man was wounded early today by semiautomatic gunfire in the Lincoln Terrace housing project, Roanoke police said.

Anthony Wilson, of the 800 block of Hunt Avenue Northwest, was treated at Community Hospital for a gunshot wound to his left leg.

Wilson told police that he was walking on Dupree Street about 2:45 a.m. when a car stopped and several men demanded that he get in.

When Wilson refused, he told police, one of the car's occupants shot him in the leg. The car then sped off.

> A Roanoke man has been charged with malicious wounding in connection with a stabbing that happened Sunday.

Paul Smith, 28, of the 2800 block of Salem Turnpike, was charged with stabbing Kelvin Warren Robertson, 24, at his home on the 2700 block of Centre Avenue Northwest.

Robertson, who was stabbed in the stomach with a kitchen knife, was taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
