Perry, the league's leading scorer with a 20.9-point average entering the Metro tournament at the Roanoke Civic Center later this week, and Weatherspoon, the Metro player of the year last season as a sophomore, were named on all 53 ballots cast by the Metro Conference Sportswriters and Broadcasters Association and the league's eight coaches.
Weatherspoon's senior teammate, Darrin Chancellor, Tulane sophomore Anthony Reed and Cincinnati senior Louis Banks completed the All-Metro first team. Banks, like Weatherspoon, is a first-team repeater from 1989-90.
Virginia Tech was the only one of the Metro's eight schools not represented on the two five-man squads.
The second team was composed of Cincinnati forward Herbert Jones, Louisville guard LaBradford Smith, South Carolina guard Jo Jo English and the Florida State inside duo of Douglas Edwards and Michael Polite.
Smith made the first team a year ago. Perry, Chancellor and Reed moved up from the second unit this season.
The burly, 6-foot-7 Weatherspoon led the 22-ranked Golden Eagles to their first Metro regular-season championship. He led the Metro in rebounding for the third straight season, with a 12.3 average. He also ranks third - behind Perry and Chancellor - in scoring with a 17.8-point average.
Weatherspoon also is among the league's top 10 in field-goal percentage, free-throw percentage and blocked shots.
Perry, the Tigers' begoggled playmaker, is only the second Metro player - joining former Tech star Bimbo Coles - to score 2,000 points and hand out 500 assists in his career. Perry leads the Metro in steals with 76, and is second in assists and free-throw shooting.
Chancellor, who was third in the voting, missed being a unanimous pick by seven points. Reed, Tulane's center, led the Green Wave to an 11-game improvement from a year ago, when their program returned from a four-year hiatus after a point-shaving scandal. Banks is UC's No. 5 career scorer with 1,605 points, behind Oscar Robertson, Roger McClendon, Pat Cummings and Ron Bonham.
The unanimous selections of Perry and Weatherspoon make them the leading candidates for the Metro player of the year award, which will be announced at the tournament coaches' luncheon on Wednesday at the Roanoke Airport Marriott. The league's coach and freshman of the year, and the all-freshman squad, will be announced then.
Players received two points for a first-team vote; one point for a second-team vote.
