BLACKSBURG - Jearldine (Jerri) Marie Linkous Carter, age 58, died Sunday, March 3, 1991, at her home after a courageous fight with cancer. Mrs. Carter was the daughter of Sadie Linkous and the late George L. Linkous of Blacksburg and was preceded in death by her husband, H. Winfield Carter Jr. She was a Past Senior Regent of Montgomery County Moose Lodge #774, and also a member of the College of Regents. Other than her mother, survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Samantha C. and Kevin Solander, Virginia Beach; two sons and daughters-in-law, H. Winfield III and Annette R. Carter, Riner; Arc C. and Maria J. Carter, Germany; three grandchildren, Amanda Dawn Carter, Andrew Collin Solander, Hillary Rose Carter; four sisters, Betty Ward, Joyce Browning, Linda Fain and Lois Jarrells, all of Blacksburg; three brothers, David Linkous, Arnold M. Linkous and Tim Linkous, all of Christiansburg; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Linda Stapleton, Kingsport, Tenn. Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 6, 11:00 a.m. at Merrimac Pentecostal Holiness Church. The Rev. James M. Angle will officiate. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 446, Christiansburg, Va., 24073, or New River Valley Hospice, Inc., 600 Price's Fork Road, Blacksburg, Va., 24060. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Hoy-McCoy Funeral Home.
