Intermet Corp. of Atlanta, parent of Lynchburg Foundry, said Monday it has completed the $11 million sale of its 60 percent interest in INTAT Precision Inc. of Rushville, Ind. The buyer is Aisin Takaoka Ltd. of Toyota City, Japan. The sale figure is subject to adjustment after resolution of arbitration.

Eastern Airlines, under a plea-bargaining agreement, has admitted that it conspired to prevent the Federal Aviation Administration from determining if its employees and managers were falsifying maintenance records and will pay $3.5 million in fines. The airline could have faced $26.5 million in fines if the federal prosecutor in New York had insisted that it plead guilty to all 53 counts in an indictment. The carrier is liquidating after shutting down Jan. 18.

Chrysler Corp. has reached a tentative accord with its banks that, if approved, would give the company a financial cushion until its depressed sales and profits improve, financial executives who spoke with Chrysler officials said Monday. Under terms of the tentative agreement, its existing $2.6 billion revolving line of credit would be replaced by $1.7 billion in new loans with different terms.
