SOUTHERN MISS ROUTS HOKIES IN TOURNEY

Alexis Hall led five players in double figures with 27 points as Southern Mississippi routed Virginia Tech 91-71 in the first round of the Metro Conference women's basketball tournament on Monday.

Tech finished its season with a 12-15 record.

Southern Miss (17-11) jumped to a 13-2 lead in the game's first five minutes and cruised. The Golden Eagles shot 53 percent from the field and outrebounded Tech 56-37.

Senior Jeni Garber led Tech with 25 points. Dayna Sonovick had 12 points.
