OFFICIAL TO PROVIDE HELP WITH BLACK-LUNG CLAIMS

A representative of the U.S. Department of Labor will be at the United Mine Workers' District office Wednesday to help miners, widows or their representatives file for black-lung benefits.

The representative, who will sit from 8:30 a.m. until noon, also will be available to answer questions, assist with reimbursement problems and file appeals for those denied benefits.

Appointments can be made by the calling the UMW legal department at (703) 762-5548.

Black lung is a disease coal miners contract from inhaling coal dust.
