SENATE HEARING SEEKS IDEAS ON REDISTRICTING

A public hearing on redrawing district lines for the Virginia Senate will be held Monday in the George Wythe High School library at 7 p.m.

The Senate Committee on Privileges and Elections will be seeking suggestions for district plans, including minority group proposals to meet U.S. Voting Rights Act standards and ideas on communities of interest.

Other hearings are scheduled Tuesday in Danville, March 13 at Virginia Beach and March 15 at Manassas.

The committee will meet in Richmond the following week to review proposed district plans and will hold further hearings in Richmond during the redistricting process and special legislative session.
