COVINGTON'S TWITTY TOP PIONEER PLAYER

Covington's Adarryl Twitty, who led his team to the regular-season Pioneer District boys' basketball championship, has been selected the player of the year by the league's coaches.

Twitty heads the All-Pioneer District team that includes Glenvar's Scott Wagstaff, Natural Bridge's Robert Thompson, Lexington's Gavin Clark and Bath County's Keswick Phillips.

Twitty averaged 19 points a game and led Timesland in assists with 8.1.

Members of the second team are Derek Jones and Melvin Christian of James River, Tony Jeter of Covington, Leslie Gray of Parry McCluer and Jonathan Lee of Craig County. - Staff report
