HEARING SCHEDULED APRIL 5 FOR TWO ON ASSAULT CHARGES

A preliminary hearing has been set for April 5 for two men charged with the abduction, attempted rape and malicious wounding of a 17-year-old girl in Blacksburg last Friday night.

Brian Douglas Wiley and Beverly Tyrone Parks, both of Blacksburg, were being held in the Montgomery County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bonds. Their hearing will be held in Blacksburg Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.

Blacksburg Police Chief Don Carey said the girl was assaulted at an apartment in south Blacksburg. He gave the following account:

Two men knocked on the girl's door and asked to use the telephone. She showed them to the kitchen where they jumped her, tried to pin her down and attempted to rape her.

A struggle ensued and friends of the girl who were with her in the apartment at the time intervened. The men then fled. The girl suffered minor cuts and bruises.

Wiley and Parks were arrested Sunday.
