Valla Russell Roberts, age 79, of Route 1, widow of Wiley W. Roberts died Tuesday, March 5, 1991 in the Wythe County Community Hospital. She was a member of the Sharon Baptist Church in Rural Retreat and is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Ruth and Walter Palmer of Wytheville; and Virginia and Richard Ballard of San Jose, Calif.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Scott J. and Cleta Roberts, Charles D. and Anna Ray Roberts, both of Rural Retreat; one brother, Paul K. Russell of Elk Creek; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild also survive. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday from the Sharon Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Hoyle officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to services. Memorials may be made to the Rural Retreat Emergency Services. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home or at the residence of her son, Scott J. Roberts at any time. Lindsey Funeral Home of Rural Retreat is in charge of the arrangements.
