FERRUM RIPS URBANA BEHIND SMITH, WAGNER

Gerald Smith hit two solo home runs and drove in three runs, and Scott Wagner missed a no-hitter by one strike as Ferrum blasted Urbana 14-3 in college baseball Wednesday.

Smith hit home runs in the first and fifth innings.

Wagner was one strike from a no-hitter, but yielded a single, then a walk and a three-run homer.

Ferrum is 3-1, and Urbana is 2-2.
