Beverly Russell Abell, age 71, of 1716 Grandin Road, S.W., died in a local hospital Saturday. He was preceded in death by a son, Edwin Ray Abell. Mr. Abell was a U.S. Army veteran, World War II, a member of the American Legion, and V.F.W. Post No. 248. Surviving are his wife, Kathleen J. Abell; a son, Jerald R. Abell, Roanoke; daughters, Patricia Kessner, Rochester, N.Y.; Dana Dunbar, Salem; stepson, Barry Stanley, Roanoke; two brothers, William Abell and Walter Richard Abell, both of Roanoke; sisters, Louise Greer, Alabama; Shirley Weddle and Margie Bailey, both of Roanoke; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's Roanoke Chapel 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 1991, with the Rev. Phillip E. Sims officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Burial Park. Friends may call at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel after 1:00 p.m. Monday.
