TWO STATIONS GOING REMOTE ON BROADCASTS OF FESTIVITIES

LIVE: WVVV is busy with two remotes Sunday beginning with a promotion at East Coast Surf, Skate & Ski in Radford, 3-5 p.m. Then the station broadcasts from Macado's in Radford for a St. Patrick's Day party, 7-9 p.m.

WPUV's "Hometown Gospel," today, 6:45-9 a.m., features a live performance by From the Heart.

Also today, WKEX airs a live performance by country music group Southbound with Vince Crewey, 1:05-2 p.m., which is a break in the station's remote from the New River Valley Home Builders Show at the community center in Blacksburg, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Monday, WVVV is at the Blacksburg Marriott for the Muscular Dystrophy Association's annual "Lock-Up," 1-5 p.m.

Register this weekend to win the "Rock 105 VIP Grand Prize Giveaway," which includes tickets, backstage passes, a limo ride and dinner on Tuesday for the Black Crowes & ZZ Top concert in Roanoke. The drawing will be held Tuesday at Books, Strings & Things in Blacksburg.

WFNR's "Bluegrass Talk Back" show, Thursday, 8-9 p.m. features the Bobby Oosley Gospel Band. Call 382-6106 to play.

WUVT starts its "Radiothon" fund-raiser March 25 through April 1. Call in with a donation to keep the station operating.

WRAD and WRIQ will be live at Wade's in Dublin on March 29 and 30 for a kitchen giveaway.

\ CHRISTIAN ROCK: "Street Light Cafe," Sunday 7:30-9 a.m. on WVVV-Rock 105, features an interview with the Choir, Harvest Rock's Alternative Artist of 1990. Cuts from the band's "Circle Slide" album also will be aired.

\ COMEDY: WVRU simulcasts "What Ever Happened To . . . ," Sunday, 5:30 p.m., which features TV, music and film stars as they look back on their lives. This week's guest is Tony Dow, who played Wally on "Leave It to Beaver."

And catch WVRU's "Hub City Spoke Repair," Wednesday, 9:30 p.m., which takes a satirical look at current affairs. This week's segment is "Elvis is Dead."

\ ROCK: WVRU's "Long Live Rock," Monday, 9 p.m., features odds and ends from the Beach Boys, Roxy Music and Alan Parsons.

On WVVV this week: "Album Feature," Sunday, 11 p.m., is "Fun & Games" by the Connells. "Rock Line," Monday, 11:30 p.m., has Nils Lofgren. "Five At Five" Friday features Led Zeppelin.

WVRU's "Guide Wire Radio," Monday, 8 p.m., features independently produced acts from throughout the world and music from various unsigned bands.

\ DANCE: WUVT's "House Party" airs 9-midnight next Saturday.

WPSK hosts the "Country Dance Party" at the Blacksburg Marriott each Sunday. Dance lessons begin at 7 p.m., and the party starts at 9.

\ INTERNATIONAL: Next Saturday, WUVT's lineup is classical music, 6-9 a.m.; Greek broadcasting, 9-11 a.m.; "The Persian Show," 11 a.m.; "The International Show" at 1 p.m.; Reggae, 3-6 p.m. and "Urban Blight," an eclectic mix of thrash, rap and reggae, plays 6-9. And Sunday, it's reggae, 3-6 p.m.

\ NEWS: WKEX's "Focus on the Family" airs twice weekdays with information to help yourself, family and friends.

WVRU's "Talk of the Town," Wednesday, 8 p.m. and Friday, 1:30 p.m., broadcasts a recent talk by author Alex Haley.

\ RACING: WRAD and WRIQ start Pulaski County Speedway coverage on April 7 for the first race.

WJJJ carries the NASCAR Atlanta Motorcraft 500, Sunday, 12:45 p.m.

\ COUNTRY: WPSK's "Star Trax" airs Sunday, 10 p.m. with special guest, Lee Greenwood. "CD Feature of the Week," Sunday, 11 p.m., highlights the new Johnny Cash release, "The Mystery of Life." Today, 8 a.m.-noon, "Bob Kingsley's American Country Countdown" lists the Top 40. It also airs Sunday, 4-8 p.m. "Stories Behind the Songs" airs Sunday, 10 p.m.

\ CHILDREN: On WUVT Sunday: "Hickory Dickory Dock" airs kid stuff and call-ins 9-11 a.m. and "Mash Potatoe Radio" has stories, readings and music at 11 a.m.

\ EASTER SPECIALS: WNRV is sponsoring "Operation Easter," which are taped messages from Giles County residents to local troops serving in the Mideast. The program will be aired in its entirety on Easter Sunday at 2 p.m. Call 921-3990 for information.

WPUV is holding an Easter weekend beginning on Good Friday at the station grounds. The free event includes entertainment from 30 local bands, a sunrise service and pancake breakfast.

\ GOSPEL: WFNR's "The Gospel Night Train" airs Sunday, 6-10 p.m.

WRAD's "Morning Worship" from the First Baptist Church airs 11 a.m. Sunday and "In Touch" airs at 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
