HOME SHOPPING LISTS RECORD SALES QUARTER

Home Shopping Network Inc., operator of a distribution center in Salem, has reported second quarter earnings of $6.7 million, down 47.7 percent from $12.8 million reported a year earlier. Sales for the quarter ended Feb. 28 came to a record $267.7 million, up 2.2 percent over $261.9 million in last year's quarter.

For its first half year, the St. Petersburg, Fla. company said its earnings were $19.2 million, down 42 percent from $33.1 million. Sales were $559.4 million, up 8.2 percent from $517.2 million.
