MAROONS TWO DAYS LATE AND ONE STROKE SHORT

Despite having two of its golfers tie for medalist honors, Roanoke College found itself playing second fiddle to Hampden-Sydney in the Roanoke Invitational golf tournament.

Hampden-Sydney's score of 331, was one stroke better than the Maroons. Emory & Henry finished at 360. Frank Richardson and Bob Spellane each shot 80 on the Countryside course, to earn medalist honors.

The tournament, originally scheduled for Wednesday, was postponed because of rain. - Staff report
