GEORGIA TECH 87 DEPAUL 70

Kenny Anderson pulled the Yellow Jackets out of their late-season tailspin with a little more of his NCAA tournament magic, scoring 31 points in a first-round win over the Blue Demons.

The sophomore guard, one of the brightest stars of last year's tournament, bedeviled DePaul (20-9) with outside shooting and no-look passes to set up easy baskets and a second-round game Sunday against No. 5 Ohio State.

Georgia Tech (17-12) had lost its last three games to nearly miss out on the tournament.

DePaul, which had won 12 of its last 13, was led by Stephen Howard and Chuck Murphy with 14 points apiece.
