RADFORD BEATS WINTHROP IN CONFERENCE OPENER

Radford opened its Big South Conference baseball schedule with an 8-2 victory over Winthrop College on Friday at Dedmon Center Park.

Center fielder Donnie Just led off the bottom of the first inning with a solo home run, and the Highlanders never trailed.

Radford's Vic Hatcher (2-2) of Floyd struck out six and gave up three hits in seven innings for Radford (4-7-3 overall).
