FRANKLIN COUNTY WINS SOFTBALL OPENER

Amy Mullins hit a two-run single in the third inning and Shelly Bowles pitched the victory as Franklin County opened its softball season with a 3-0 victory over Lord Botetourt.

Bowles struck out nine, walked five and gave up three hits; on offense, she drove in a run with a double in the sixth inning.
