Amanda Williams died when the sports car her father was driving north on Virginia 114 in the Fairlawn section of Pulaski County crossed over the center lane and struck another vehicle about 2:40 p.m.
The girl's father, George Williams, 32, was in critical condition Thursday night at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Trooper D.M. Honaker said it appeared from the absence of skid marks that Williams made no attempt to stop. He estimated the car was traveling 35 mph to 55 mph.
The driver of the second car, Tina Marie Rowe, 27, of Blacksburg, was treated for minor injuries at Radford Community Hospital and released.
In the other accident, Evelyn Dudding Lipes was killed when her car ran off Virginia 658 in Craig County and struck a tree.
State police said Lipes died at the scene. She swerved off the right side of the road after meeting a car at the top of a hillcrest.
