WHAT BERN EWERT MORE LIKELY HEARD

A FARMHOUSE by any other name still smells. The article of March 10 reported an encounter Bern Ewert had while walking through the woods on yet another snowy afternoon.

In this revelation, Bern is inspired to go build Explore in phases. Bern was quoted as saying, "It was an in-kind gift from God."

To suggest that Bern's apparent snow-induced euphoria had any semblance to divine providence smacks of blasphemy. The phenomenon that occurred during this communion with nature appears to be a mistake in interpretation. What Bern thought to be a directive to "build as you go" more likely was a premonition to "build a Yugo," a more realistic and environmentally feasible venture for this ever-changing project.

As for 1991 being a better year for Explore, a no is a no is a no. SUE F. WILLS VINTON
