CRIPPLE CREEK - Ossie Burris Wright, age 87, of the Cripple Creek Community, died Monday in the North Carolina Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem. She was the daughter of the late C.T. (Lum) Burris and Flora Roberts Burris of the Fallville Community in Grayson County. She was a member of the Crockett's Chapel United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Wright, and one son, Pierce Wright. She is survived by eight daughters, Mrs. Harold V. (Helen) Frye of Cripple Creek, Va.; Mrs. Don (Rosetta) Parker of Mt. Airy, N.C.; Mrs. Henry (Wanda June) Blankenship of Ridgeway, Va.; Mrs. Dan (Pauline) Moore of Black Mountain, N.C.; Mrs. Don (Iris) Moore of Christiansburg, Va.; Mrs Jimmy (Carol) Thompson of Tobaccoville, N.C.; Mrs. Gray (Rita) Morrison of Pilot Mountain, N.C.; Mrs. Frank (Evon) Fisher of Crockett, Va.; one son and daughter-in-law, Beauford and Louise Wright of Pulaski, Va.; four sisters, Mrs. Maude Bourne of Elk Creek, Va.; Mrs. Ressie Sage Hall and Mrs. Rozelle Grubb, both of Galax, Va.; Mrs. Fairye Hash of Independence, Va.; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Kathleen Wright of Elliston, Va.; twenty-four grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Crockett's Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Joe Carrico officiating. Interment will be in the Bethany Lutheran Cemetery. The body will be taken to the church one hour before service time. The family will receive friends at the Barnett Funeral Home from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday or at the residence at any time. The family suggests that those who prefer may make memorials to the Crockett's Chapel United Methodist Church or to the Lead Mines Rescue Squad. Barnett Funeral Home in Wytheville, Va., is in charge of the arrangements.
