The Virginia Department of Highways has scheduled a sale of surplus equipment as part of a periodic clearing of its offices and warehouses. The agency said it will sell about 200 items, including a boat, boat trailer, cars, trucks, shop tools, office furniture and office equipment at an auction April 10 at 10 a.m. at the Salem District office on Harrison Avenue. Items may be inspected from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 9.
Heilig-Meyers Co., the Richmond-based home furnishings retailer with stores in Western Virginia, on Wednesday reported record results for the fiscal year ended Feb. 28. Revenues rose 13.8 percent to $447.8 million from $393.4 million last year. Net earnings from operations rose 13.2 percent to $20.9 million. Earnings per share rose 13.1 percent to $1.98 from $1.75.
