SINGERS SOUGHT TO JOIN COLLEGE CONCERT BAND

Last year, Jack O. White organized about 70 people into what is now the Wytheville Community College Concert Band and now he is looking for 90 singers to go with it.

The musicians would perform a Broadway production number April 23 at 8 p.m. in the George Wythe High School auditorium, featuring such show tunes as "Hello, Dolly," "Mame" and "Hey, Look Me Over."

The first practice will be held Tuesday at 8 p.m. in the school's band room. Other practices are scheduled for April 7 at 3 p.m. in the band room, and April 9 and 16 at 8 p.m. in the auditorium.

White, a former George Wythe band director, is encouraging experienced singers, church choir members and others who just enjoy singing to come to the first practice. Further information is available from White or Dan Jones at 228-5541 (or toll-free from outside Wythe County, 1-800-468-1195).
