JAYCEES GIVE SERVICE AWARDS TO 7 AT BANQUET

Roanoke Jaycees recognized seven people at their annual distinguished service awards banquet Thursday night.

David L. Caudill, president and chief operating officer of Dominion Bankshares Corp., was named distinguished citizen. He was chairman of the Trade Center Task Force that resulted in Norfolk Southern Corp. giving the Hotel Roanoke to Virginia Tech.

Reta R. Busher, director of management and budget for Roanoke County, was named outstanding young woman. She was honored for her volunteer work in numerous community activities.

Brandon Bell, a sales representative Hewlett-Packard, was named outstanding young man. He has served on the board of directors for the Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce, Junior Achievement of the Roanoke Valley and Total Action Against Poverty.

Toni D. McLawhorn was names outstanding young educator. She is a marketing education teacher-coordinator at Patrick Henry High School.

Eric Lynn Mills, outstanding young law enforcement officer, is assigned to the Crime Prevention Bureau of the Roanoke Police Department. He gives an average of 10 drug talks and seminars a month.

Audie M. Ferris, outstanding young firefighter of the year, is the leader of the city's hazardous-materials team. He recently developed a training aid to help firefighters look for victims in burning buildings.

Christopher Stull, outstanding young rescue-squad member, has been on squads in Vinton, eastern Roanoke County and Southeast Roanoke for 17 years.
