Jaime R. Howell, 32, of Hampton was found guilty Thursday of two counts of sexual battery, a misdemeanor, instead of the two felonies. He was sentenced to one year for each count, with eight months suspended from each.
Police charged Howell with having sex with a patient in October and another patient in January in the mental hospital building where he worked.
Both patients are adults and allegedly consented to have sex with Howell, according to James City police. But state law prohibits anyone from having sex with anyone who is mentally incapacitated.
