The presentation will be made on April 18 at a luncheon meeting at the Wesley Foundation. This is the seventh year the Kiwanis Club is giving the award, which is named for the Rev. Gunnar Teilmann, a former missionary in Malaysia and Singapore who at the time of his death in May 1987 was assistant pastor of Blacksburg United Methodist Church.
Pastors are invited to nominate lay people for the award. The criteria include the quality of service in church-related activities both within and beyond the local congregation. Community service is not considered.
Pastors wishing to make a nomination should send the name and information to Montgomery County Kiwanis Club, P.O. Box 620, Blacksburg, Va., 24063.
