CHOLESTEROL DROPPED IN STUDY AREA IN '80S

The cholesterol levels of people who lived in Minneapolis-St. Paul dropped significantly during the early 1980s, and a similar fall probably occurred nationwide, according to a study.

The researchers found that during the first half of the decade, men's blood cholesterol levels fell an average of 5 points to 200, and women's dropped 6 points to 195.

Dr. Gregory Burke, who directed the study, aid no national data of cholesterol changes is available from this period, but "I would assume something similar is going on nationwide." - Associated Press
