\ THE YORK MINSTER CATHEDRAL CHOIR, 36 men and boys from England, will perform Sunday at 4 p.m. at Greene Memorial United Methodist Church in downtown Roanoke. The choir, which will be housed in the homes of church members, is on its first tour of the United States and Canada.
\ WYCLIFFE ASSOCIATES, an ecumenical agency that translates the Bible into languages spoken by traditionally non-Christian people, has scheduled a fund-raising banquet April 15 at Holiday Inn Airport. Tickets for the free event at 7 p.m. are available by calling David Leaman, 345-5345. The work of the Wycliffe organization will be described at the meeting and an offering taken.
\ CHOIRS FROM SEVERAL CHURCHES will sing Saturday at a 6:30 p.m. program at Melrose Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1601 Melrose Ave. N.W. A quartet and the senior choir will come from the host church with guest singers from Morning Star Baptist and Guiding Star Church of God in Christ. The G.C. Specials also will perform along with the Adventist pastor Gregory L. Jackson.
\ SUSAN EMMONS BENTLEY of Radford will be ordained to the Episcopal priesthood Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. The service will be at Christ Episcopal Church, 1101 Franklin Road S.W., Roanoke. Bentley, a graduate of Seabury-Western Seminary in Chicago, currently is on the staff of Grace Episcopal Church of Radford; she is a former Christian educator at the Roanoke parish. The preacher will be the Rev. Dr. John Westerhoff of Duke University divinity school, under whom Bentley has studied.
\ THE UNITED METHODIST HISTORICAL SOCIETY of the Roanoke District has observed its sixth anniversary. The group meets quarterly for lectures on aspects of United Methodist history in Western Virginia. On bus trips, the approximately 25 members have visited old churches and learned of their roles in the development of communities. Retired pastor Alpheus W. Potts is the program director.
\ WOODLAWN UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 2922 Corbieshaw Road S.W., will observe its 45th anniversary April 19-21. Seven of its charter members are living. Events will include a fellowship dinner with entertainment by the Jack Tale Players on the opening evening at 6:30. Call 774-8126 for reservations. On the Sunday of the celebration the Rev. Samuel A. Stanley Jr., the second pastor of the parish, will preach at the 10:55 a.m. service. A potluck luncheon will follow.
\ ROANOKE AREA MINISTRIES will benefit from a Hollins College cleanup project April 13. Students, under the coordination of Jeri Suarez, will clean and paint RAM House, the day shelter for the homeless.
\ THE UNITARIAN-UNIVERSALIST CHURCH of the Roanoke Valley will host the Thomas Jefferson District meeting of congregations in Virginia April 12 and 13. An address, open to the public, will be presented at the 11 a.m. Saturday session by the Rev. Dr. F. Forrester Church of All Souls Unitarian Church in New York. He is the author of 15 books including one on Thomas Jefferson's Bible.
\ SUSAN LEWIS, a gospel singer, will perform April 12 at 7:30 p.m. at the Southwest Church of God of Prophecy, 2301 Roanoke Ave. S.W. The program is free.
\ A CHRISTIAN CONVERT FROM ISLAM, Dr. Kaya Essen, will speak April 14 at 10 and 11 a.m. and at 7 p.m. at Riverland Road Baptist Church, 459 Riverland Road S.E. Essen is of Turkish background.
