UNITARIANS PLAN BUSINESS MEETING

For the first time in 12 years, about 150 representatives of Unitarian-Universalist congregations in five Southeastern states will gather in Roanoke for their annual business meeting.

Sessions will be held Friday night and April 13. The opening dinner will be at Holiday Inn - Tanglewood and other sessions at the Grandin Road church and Patrick Henry High School.

Keynote speaker will be the Rev. Dr. F. Forrester Church of New York. He will present a public lecture, "Spreading the Good News," Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Patrick Henry High School.

Church is the author of several books, including a biography of his father, the late U.S. Sen. Frank Church and a commentary on Thomas Jefferson's Bible.

The Rev. Kirk Ballin, host pastor, said delegates will come from Virginia, the Carolinas, Georgia and Tennessee. Church growth will be among the business issues. The denomination, which is strongest in New England, is expanding into the Southeast and currently is developing churches in Harrisonburg, Williamsburg and Abingdon, Ballin said.
