CRITICISM WAS OF HC TAGS, NOT DISABLED

NOW I HAVE become the Saddam Hussein of the disabled community! My March 14 letter said the non-disabled abuse the parking places designated for the handicapped. As I said, I realize all disabilities aren't noticeable and some of you can walk 50 feet.

I still believe this. Sorry I riled some of you up, but the bottom line is that the HC tag system is abused by people who aren't handicapped or with slight handicaps. I didn't say all non-wheelchair people abuse it. Some.

I have been confined to a wheelchair 23 years. I'm tired of waiting half an hour or more for an HC parking place, then seeing someone with the tag have the space I should have.

Or should I say we? I wouldn't ever hurt the cause of the disabled, since I would be hurting myself.

Sheryl L. Guy (letter, March 29) wrote that most disabled don't have a lot of confidence in themselves. I'm disabled and think I am handsome, cool, witty, kind, intelligent and charismatic.
