HK FURS PARTNER OPENS ROANOKE SHOP

A former partner in downtown Roanoke's HK Furs has opened Hertzberg Furs, operating at the same location - 117 Campbell Ave. S.W. - and with the same employees. The new business is owned by Larry Hertzberg, who also has fur shops in Raleigh and Rocky Mount, N.C., according to Barbara Neal, manager of the Roanoke fur salon.

Hertzberg and a partner, David Kriegsman, bought HK Furs about six years ago from Ruth Kaminester, whose late husband founded the original business as Henri Kessler. Neal said Kriegsman purchased Hertzberg's interest about three years ago. He closed the business at the end of February. Neal said Hertzberg formed a new company to operate the shop.
