Mrs. Laura Jane Hancock Childers, age 92, of 3700 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, N.C. died Thursday, April 11, 1991. She was the widow of Melvin Childers, Sr. Born in Cave Spring, attended school in Cave Spring, and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Roanoke for over 50 years. She was also a homemaker. Surviving are one son, Melvin Childers, Jr. of Charlotte, N.C.; one daughter, Mrs. Lois Ann Sessoms of Williamsburg; three brothers, Hugh Hancock of Calif.; Samuel Hancock of N.M.; William Hancock, N.J.; two sisters, Mrs. Lula Dunn of Rockville, Md.; Mrs. Gladys Henry of Portsmouth; three granddaughters; and one great-grandson. Funeral services will be at Oakey's South Chapel 12:00 noon Saturday with Dr. Harry Y. Gamble and Dr. C. Steven Teague officiating. Interment will be in the Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon Saturday at Oakey's South Chapel.
