WILLIAM & MARY RAISES TUITION BY 8.9 PERCENT

The governing board of the College of William and Mary on Friday approved tuition and fee increases of 9.8 percent for in-state students and 13 percent for out-of-state students.

Tuition for Virginia students will be $3,730, up from $3,396. For out-of-state students, the rates will be $10,450, up from $9,246.

Room and board costs were not raised.

Samuel E. Jones, director of planning and budget, said the higher costs will go toward making up state funding reductions. - Associated Press
