THANKS FOR MAKING `HIGH ON LIFE' WORK

Students at Blacksburg High School recently enjoyed an incredibly successful evening "High on Life." Funding received through a CADRE (Commonwealth Alliance for Drug Rehabilitation and Education) grant enabled students to share an evening of 19 varied activities at the school without use of drugs or alcohol. Over 430 chose to come and participate in games, dancing, sports activities and free food.

I would like to commend those area merchants who supported the event through contributions and discounts, Virginia Tech students, parents and teachers who chaperoned, student-club representatives at the school who organized games and food, and Frank Mauceri, assistant principal, who spearheaded the effort with unlimited energy.

Without the efforts of all involved, the evening would not have been possible. It is good for the students to learn that our community will support their desire to be drug-free and have fun.

There are many ways we can support local schools and our students. Thanks to all who did on this occasion! \
