SURPLUS-SALE SHOPPING WAS A SMART MOVE

I would like to applaud [Montgomery County] Sheriff [Louis] Barber's actions in having gone to the state surplus sale to purchase materials for his department. Also, his usage of labor available to him at no cost to the taxpayers is admirable.

I am told that he takes a shopping list with him from other department heads for items they need. In these days of $500 toilet seats and $50 bolts I'm glad to see someone looking around for better solutions.

If he is considering a job change in the future, I suggest he run for a seat on the Board of Supervisors. I certainly would vote for him!
