BASEBALL NOTES

Today is the 25th anniversary of the first game played on the synthetic grass dubbed AstroTurf by reporters. The Astros lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-3 in the Astrodome on April 18, 1966.

Reporters named the synthetic grass for the Astros, who have namesakes all around them: They play on AstroTurf at the Astrodome, next to the Astrohall, across the freeway from Astroworld in the city of the astronauts.
