HUCKLEBERRY TRAIL FESTIVAL IS REALLY 5 EVENTS
The Huckleberry Trail Festival is the new name for several combined annual festivals and events this year - an effort also intended to raise awareness for construction of the Huckleberry Trail recreation path.Alison Limoges, director of the Voluntary Action Center, will discuss the festival at Wednesday's People Advocating the Huckleberry (PATH) meeting, 3:45-4:45 p.m., at the Blacksburg Police Department.
The festival April 3-5 will include the Brush Mountain Craft Fair, Virginia Tech's International Student Festival and Parents Weekend, and the Blacksburg Women's Club Antique Show.
Efforts will be made to get shuttle rides from Blacksburg Transit and an event planned at Smithfield Plantation, said PATH member Susan Swain.
"We'll combine budgets, pool resources and market the event under the name of the Huckleberry Trail Festival," Swain said Friday. "We want to make this a big event."
Each organization, however, will continue to raise money for itself, she said. For more information, call Swain at 382-5750.
