N.Y. PIANIST TO PLAY OLIN HALL
New York pianist Robert Dawson will perform in concert at Olin Hall on Jan. 25 at 8 p.m.Dawson's performance will include show tunes, movie and television music and several of his own compositions.
Among the latter will be "Night Sounds on the Mountain," which was inspired by the mountains during the pianist's earlier visits to the Roanoke Valley.
Dawson has performed at parties hosted by Walter Cronkite and Katherine Hepburn, among other celebrities. He has played at the Plaza and Sherry Netherland Hotels in New York and was a music coach for the movie, "Big."
Dawson's Olin Hall appearance kicks off a Virginia tour that includes performances in Lynchburg and Staunton and at Ferrum College and James Madison and George Mason Universities.
Tickets for the concert are $10.50 in advance and $12.50 at the door. Student tickets are $7.50.
