SMOOT, CHARLES H.

Colonel Charles (Chick) Hoyt Smoot passed away December 16 at the VA Medical Center in Salem. Survivors include his wife, Elaine Schuck Smoot; daughter, Linda Riffel; son, Richard E. Smoot; daughter-in-law, Darlene Smoot; four grandchildren, Adam, Lori, Jana Smoot, all of Roanoke; Kim Phillips, Huntsville, Ala.; two sisters; two brothers, all of Ind. He was a member of the Williamson Road Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, the Kazim Temple, and a member of Shenandoah Baptist Church. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, January 11 at 11:00 a.m. at Shenandoah Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Robert Alderman and Rev. Albin Crutchfield.
