SCHOOL PRAYER BACKER CHARGED WITH FRAUD
A man who says he wants prayer returned to public schools has been charged with election fraud for allegedly forging names on petitions to get listed on the ballot as a General Assembly candidate.Kelvin G. Davis, 23, said he was collecting signatures for his House campaign at the same time he was gathering signatures for petitions to restore prayer in public schools. He said he inadvertently wrote on his campaign petition some names of people he intended to contact on the prayer issue.
Davis was disqualified from the November ballot. He waged a write-in campaign and received eight votes. Five of those votes were cast in the wrong election district, the registrar's office said.
