RELIGION BRIEFS

FAITH ALLIANCE CHURCH, 7505 Barrens Road, will sponsor a two-part video, "Children at Risk," Sunday and Jan. 19 at 7 p.m. Open to the community, the films feature evangelical Christian family counselors James Dobson and Gary Bauer. A nursery will be available. Call 366-1864 for more information.

\ THE REVS. ALAN AND KATHRYN ROWBOTHAM, ministers of Unity of Roanoke Valley, have begun a month's leave in New Zealand. During their absence, several guests will lead worship at the church at 3300 Green Ridge Road.

Guests include: Saul Steinberg, author and motivator of self-improvement, on Sunday at 9 and 11 a.m.; Charles Finn, licensed professional counselor on Jan. 19; the Rev. Tony Roebuck, Unity teacher of healing relationships, on Jan. 26; and the Revs. Sig and Jane Paulson, authors and speakers on Feb. 2.

In addition to the Sunday morning services, Steinberg and Roebuck will offer workshops employing Unity principles. Call 562-2200 for registration information.

On Jan. 19 at 2 p.m., Jo Stanton, a licensed Unity teacher, will offer a video presentation on her recent month of travel in India, Tibet and Egypt. An offering will be taken.

\ ESTATE PLANNING FOR CHURCH MEMBERS will be the theme of Dr. Lowell E. Jennings, retired physician and church investment counselor, Sunday at 9:45 a.m. at Emmanuel Wesleyan Church, 4816 Florist Road N.W. The multimedia seminar, suitable for those of many groups, is a ministry of the Office of Estate Planning of the Wesleyan Church in Indianapolis. Call 366-3088 for more information.

\ THE COLLEGE CHOIR OF BLACKSBURG BAPTIST CHURCH will present a program Sunday at Melrose Baptist Church, 3520 Peters Creek Road, at the 9:30 and 10:45 worship services. The choral group has 40 members.

\ THE REV. KAREN CARTER has left the pastorate of Monte Vista Church of the Brethren in Franklin County after a year there. Carter, who lives in Daleville and is active in several Roanoke Valley peace and social justice groups, has not announced further vocational plans.

\ GEORGE F. POLLASH, director of the Presbyterian Community Center in Southeast Roanoke for the past 15 years, will be honored Sunday on his retirement from the agency, which is supported ecumenically. A farewell party will be at Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church, 1837 Grandin Road S.W. from 3-5 p.m.
