FINCASTLE ATTORNEY NAMED ASSISTANT IN BOTETOURT
Fincastle lawyer David Spigle has been named assistant commonwealth's attorney in Botetourt County, newly elected Commonwealth's Attorney Rob Hagan announced.Spigle, 30, has been an associate at the law firm of Carter, Roe, Emick and Moore since 1987. He is the grandson of Philip Kohen, who was Botetourt's commonwealth's attorney from the 1920s until the early 1950s.
He earned his law degree from Washington and Lee University and did undergraduate studies at the University of Virginia. He will join Hagan at Hagan's law office in Daleville, and they will operate a general law practice in addition to their responsibilities as prosecutors.
In Botetourt, the commonwealth's attorney position is part-time.
Spigle replaces Hagan, who was assistant commonwealth's attorney under former Commonwealth's Attorney Buck Heartwell before being elected as his successor in November. Hagan took office Jan. 1.
