INSENSITIVE COMMENT ABOUT TRAFFIC DEATHS
I AM DIRECTING this letter to an insensitive man with a one-track mind, Walter Bibb of Roanoke! In his Jan. 6 letter, he stated that cigarette smoking was responsible for the deaths of a mother and daughter while on their way to the store to get more cigarettes.Well, that mother and daughter were my aunt and first cousin. Our family was very hurt by his insensitive comment. They had every right as citizens to be on the road going to the store for whatever the purpose. Had it been for peanut butter, does Mr. Bibb think that the world should quit eating peanut butter?
Not cigarettes, but a traffic collision was the cause of the deaths of these two very dear and precious lives. The judge certified charges of involuntary manslaughter against the other driver. They will be sadly missed by all their loved ones, who will try to remember them with happier memories than of the horrible tragedy of their deaths! WANDA CUNNINGHAM CHRISTIANSBURG
